Women making a pinky promise with the words best and friends written on their hands.

Volunteering together is a great way to bond with your best friend while making a difference in your community. And what better way to celebrate National Best Friends Day than by volunteering with your bestie?

CASA for Children offers a unique opportunity for you and your friend to volunteer together. Not only will you be making a difference in a child’s life, but you will also be creating lasting memories with your favorite friend .

Additionally, volunteering with CASA can be an eye-opening experience that may challenge you both to grow in new ways. You’ll gain new perspectives and understandings about the lives of others, which can foster empathy and compassion in your friendship.

Here are some ways you and your bestie can work together to help children in your community.

1. Attend a volunteer information session together.

The first step to becoming a CASA volunteer is attending a volunteer information session. These sessions provide an overview of the CASA organization and the volunteer role. It is a chance for you and your best friend to ask questions and hear from experienced volunteers and staff about the rewards and challenges of the volunteer role. 3

2. Share the experience of training together.

CASA offers a comprehensive training program that prepares volunteers for their role as an advocate for a child in the court system. You and your best friend can share the experience of training, learning from each other, and supporting one another throughout the process.

3. Advocate for a child together.

As a CASA volunteer, you will be assigned to a case and work to support and advocate for a child. You and your best friend can offer support during challenging times, making the experiences more manageable and rewarding.

The impact of becoming a CASA volunteer is immeasurable. By dedicating your time and energy to a child in need, you are helping to ensure that they have a safe and permanent home and that their best interests are met throughout their time in foster care.

Your involvement can be the turning point in a child’s story, offering hope and stability in a world of uncertainty.
